Brian Hammond – His Story & Artworks
Over the next couple of months we here at Envy would like to introduce you to the amazing artists whose work we feature here every month on the auctions. You will get a wonderful glimpse of the world through their eyes and their art, as they share their souls with you and we showcase their art in all its glory. And if you happen to hear a particular piece asking you “please take me home with you”, then by all means heed the call folks, because in most cases our artists are even prepared to offer you a 3-month payment plan if needed, and when you invest in beauty it will remain with you a joy forever! MEET THE ARTIST BRIAN DE VILLIERS HAMMOND.
A versatile guy and former matriculant from Potchefstroom Boy’s High, Brian’s Dad was Chief Surveyor at Stilfontein mine, so from the start his life took an interesting line! Brian studied farming, and in this profession, he traipsed from Viljoenskroon to Vryburg to the Eastern Cape. But even before this, his painting made a start – old artist friend, Ken McMillan helped guide him in part. Painting in oils is his preferred desire, creating landscapes, expanses, and skies on fire! Play of light at twilight and dusk expands the flow of emotion from the brush in Brian’s hand. Brian feels what he paints, and his chief inspiration is the beauty and magnificence of God’s creation. Take your time and browse through his art, and you will connect with the passion in Brian’s very heart.

Born on 8 September 1960, Hannelie grew up on a farm near Brits. After completing her High School years at Hoërskool Brits, she studied Fine Art at Pretoria Technikon. She currently lives on the outskirts of Pretoria. She has always had a love for art since childhood. Her specialities are portraits, still life, and animals. She also does abstracts and landscapes from time to time. She works mainly with oils on canvas. The use of palette knife is sometimes used in her work. Other mediums include charcoal, pencil and watercolour.

Trey is a passionate, self taught artist residing in the beautiful Eden of South Africa in a little coastal town called Mossel Bay in the Western Cape. He is always pushing his creative boundaries and not only wants to make you the proud owner of one of his “creative journeys”, but also the owner of the atmosphere that his work creates and the talking points that it makes with others. Hope you enjoy perusing through his “Broadening the Horizons” Seascape series; and “Boldness and Gold” series and that it resonates with you!
Our October contribution to the Potgieter kids helped to pay for Nerike’s 5th birthday party. Such an honor to be part of the big moments in this little girls life! A huge thanks to all the participating artists and those who SUPPORT OUR AUCTIONS TO MAKE THIS POSSIBLE!! We are making a difference… Thanks Annette for sharing the video with us.
